WHY THE LAMP MATTERS: Dedolight's double aspheric design features several optical elements that are very carefully aligned with each other and with the center of the filament. If the lamp you use is slightly different, the center of its source will not align with the optics and the light will not performed as it should.  To get the most out of your Dedolights choose your lamps carefully.

LOW-VOLTAGE ADVANTAGES

  • Dedolight low voltage lamps offer very high light output up to 40 lumens per watt – twice more than high voltage halogen lamps used in conventional studio lights.
  • Dedolight lamps cost only a fraction of lamps used in standard line voltage lights with similar output.
  • The long lifetime adds further to the savings in operating costs. The savings over time surpass the original purchase price of the entire dedolight light head several times. 
  • The high durability of the lamps allow dedolights to be used in on location and in harsh environments. Highly shock and vibration resistant, dedolights are used under conditions which would be  disastrous to fixtures operating on standard voltages.
  • The small size of the filament contributes to the effectiveness of the optical system

WHY BLACK TIP LAMPS: When the glass outer shell of a lamp is made, a fill-tip is formed at the very top. This creates a small blotch of light at the bottom of the beam that can easily be blocked with barn-doors. To produce the best quality beam from the bare fixture dedolight has been supplying lamps with a blackened fill tip. Today's models of the Classic 150w lights (DLH4, DLHM4-300) have a miniature black shield inside preventing the formation of this blotch in the beam. As this modification renders the use of black-tip lamps redundant, these are now being fade-out. If you have an older Classic dedolight, we might be able to install a fill-tip shield in your fixture: contact us.

  • I have a DLH4 Running of a 12volt power supply. What is the proper replacement bulb for that light and do you sell it?

    Hello! You need a 12v bulb that is not listed on our web-store. 

    DL100-NB Tungsten halogen lamp (FCR), 100 W, 12 V, Socket GY6.35, 700 hours, 3200 K, 3600 lm, clear-tip. Price is $12 each.

    The height and position of the filament inside the bulb is critical as it needs to line up with the center of the 3 optical elements (front lens, Meniscus lens, mirror)

  • I have two DLHM4-300 DEDOLIGHTs. I need long life LED replacement bulbs, as the fixtures are being used to light a museum exhibit. The gallery is open 6 days a week for a subtotal of 48+ hours and 2 evening per week for an additional 8 hours. Total weekly hours is 56 (x 6 months (run of the exhibition)). I can replace bulbs every month or two but a 50 hour bulb life will not work. Please do you have an LED equivalent you can recommend. Paul

    The 150W 24v dedolight bulbs are designed to run 300 hrs. This means for your museum installation replacement every 5 weeks, or 4 weeks  if you want to anticipate and replace all at once.  There are no LED replacements possible to install in Dedolight DLHM4-300.  The entire optics system is engineered to work with a point light source (the tiny tungsten filament).  The only equivalent would be a single LED but it would not generate hardly any light.
