Winner of several Technical Academy Awards, Dedolight is renown for its mastery of optics and ingenious mechanisms to optimize both output and quality. Traditionally, professional lights start with a single color minuscule source: a tungsten filament, a high-discharge arc etc. Many of you have experience using a dedolight with its optical accessories. Now, for the first time in a rich history of building optics, they can be used with a universal Bowens mount.
While the adapters were Initially built to work with the open-face COB of Prolycht's Orion 300 FS and Orion 675 FS flood lights, we have tested various Aputure models with "ProLock" Bowens mounts and find similar results. We especially like the ProLock positive-locking Bowens mount when using these higher-end glass optics considering the sizes, weights and optical alignment is optimal for their use.
The new line of Dedo's optics for Bowens mount adapting includes the 4 staples of Dedolight optics: an adaptation of the DP400 projector (with 2 variations for regular focal or wide angle lenses), a 1:4 Zoom lens from spot (varying from 5º spot to a 40º flood, depending on your light source), a wide-angle Adapter with rotating barn doors which extends beyond most fresnel mounts to a wider 50º to 80º angle, and a compact Parallel Beam Intensifier ideal for creating a tighter fixed and enhanced spot light (best for reflecting/bouncing light).
Of course the projector offers many options of light sculpting tools: gobos, iris, framing shutters, interchangeable lens focal lengths etc... available in standard configurations or built a-la-carte.
With a growing shift toward open-face COB lights with Bowen mount, the ability of using Dedolight precision optics in this space is an exciting prospect for the professional lighting industry. Yes, you can have your cake and eat it too: the best light-shaping optics in the world paired with something other than a dedolight.
