Continue ShoppingMany dedolight users are most familiar with the "classic" DLH4 tungsten focusing light heads. The DLH4 model has a rich history of lighting the most famous of performers, the most intimate of scenes and the highest levels of creative content. Known for its hyper beam control and beam qualities, there was never a competitor in its class. The DLED4N and DLED7N dedolight NEO light heads are the LED version of the DLH4. In the universe of dedolight NEO models, we consider these to be medium sized between the small 2/3 and the large 9 units. In form, the light models share the same housing and can be carried like a small football in the hand. Between bi-color and mono-color light models, and use of the common DTneo ballasts, they can now be mixed and matched for different purposes. Since they share the same M-Size accessories, it would also make sense to put them in a kit together as siblings. So what is the difference between them? Let's get into it:
Both the DLED4N and DLED7N light heads share the same housing and operate with DTneo or DTneo+ ballasts, using the same M-size accessories. The differences lie in the power output versus beam optimization: the DLED4N is a 40W light head, while the DLED7N is 80W. With more diodes in the DLED7N COB it generates more output and heat making it an actively cooled light. While nearly silent, the larger COB results in more punch and a shorter focusing range of 60° - 6° (1:8 light ration). On the other hand, with a smaller COB the DLED4N is passively cooled offering more optimization on the beam focusing range, quality and considerably longer use in a DC setup. Due to its beam quality the DLED4N unit also has broader light ratios when using optical accessories like the DPBA-714 unit.
