Not all XLR cables are created equal—especially when used to power precision lighting. Cable construction has a direct impact on lamp performance. Conductor gauge, copper quality, and connector resistance all influence voltage drop between the ballast and the light head, which in turn affects light output and color temperature stability.
The DPOW-DT24 cable is engineered to minimize these losses. In its standard 6ft length it exhibits approximately 3% light output loss, significantly lower than many cables currently in circulation. Because voltage drop increases with cable length, output reduction becomes progressively more pronounced as cable runs increase. For best performance, the shortest practical cable length should always be used.
DPOW-DT24 cables are terminated with XLR3 male and female connectors and may be daisy-chained when longer runs are required. They are compatible with any ballast designed for DLH1, DLH2, DLH3, and DLH4 light heads equipped with XLR3 connectors.
These cables use 18 AWG, 12 A-rated conductors that meet UL and CSA appliance-wiring material (AWM) requirements, along with professional-grade Neutrik connectors. This solid construction minimizes resistive losses and maintain consistent lamp output. The outer jacket is black PVC, flame-retardant, and sunlight-resistant, providing durability for both studio and location use.
